Tell about yourself - your personality, lifestyle, etc.
I'm a reasonably attractive Manhattanite. Jewish and Argentinian by birth; agnostic by choice. Love quiet conversation, animals, picnics, bowling, reading, cooking, swimming, travel...I'm healthy, active, VEGETARIAN/VEGAN, and also love ballroom dancing, int’l folk dancing, classical music, older Broadway shows, more...but I take time to smell the flowers, admire sunsets, reflect on life...
What made you choose Vegetarianism as a way of life?
(1) Health. There's no more any doubt that the ONLY healthy diet is the one provided by nature for all the vegetarian animals of which the humans are a part. Not to live longer, but rather to live healthy for our entire lives. Here's George Bernard Shaw's great wit and wisdom: 'I have lived quite long enough, and am trying to die; but I simply cannot do it. A single beefsteak would finish me; but cannot bring myself to swallow it. I am oppressed with a dread of living for ever. That is the only disadvantage of vegetarianism.' (Extracted from his letter). Go Veg!!! ;-)
(2) ...and concern for the right of the other living beings to live unmolested on this earth, which is NOT a property of the human species alone. When I read and viewed actual films of the horrendous tortures done to animals destined for our stomachs before murdering them, I was SO devastated that I immediately decided to take the very FIRST step of compassion: stop eating the animals and their products, and it made me feel much better...BUT, in the process of this first step, I didn't realize that my health was improving at leaps and bounds! I always say 'This is the thank you card from the animals to me for not eating them!' Go Veg!!! ;o)
What is your favorite Vegetarian food?
Of course, there's also vegetarian junk food because of the industry profiteers whose concern for people’s health is zero and, as most people, I enjoy it too...BUT, Mind Over Matter: I now understand intellectually AND emotionally that healthy food means non-flesh food and as unprocessed and as unspiced-up as possible, so I’ve developed a wonderful taste for only healthy, wholesome vegetarian food! It's difficult to single out ONE food as a favorite since the infinite combinations we make of the following main ingredients are most delicious!: PLANT PROTEINS: all whole grains, all beans, all nuts, all seeds…plus: tofu, tempeh, TVP, setan and, of course, all those terrific meat analogs. And not to forget ALL FRESH FRUITS. ALL FRESH VEGETABLES. And…we bake scrumptious deserts too which are the envy of even chefs who happen to be lucky enough to taste them, or read about them. Did I forget to say to go Veg??? ;-)))
